Small Business Discovery Fair Set for August in Norfolk

If you're a small business owner in the Norfolk area, or you're just curious about what it takes to start one, there's an event worth putting on your calendar. Panga Institutions is hosting the Small Business Discovery Fair on August 8th, 2026, at YMCA Norfolk, and the event is a solid mix of learning, networking, and actual visibility for businesses trying to grow.

The event runs from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, and this year's theme is "Social Business & Business Growth and Leadership." The keynote speaker is Rita Addico Cohen, Founder and Executive Director of the Tidewater African Cultural Alliance, so expect the conversation to lean into leadership and community-driven business growth rather than just the usual startup talk.

What stands out is how the fair is structured for two different audiences, and honestly, that's probably the smartest part of it.

For the public, it's a chance to meet business owners and leaders directly, pick up lessons on starting and growing your own business, and explore jobs and networking opportunities. For businesses, there's a 3-minute presentation slot, plus the usual benefits you'd want: visibility, networking, recruiting talent, and customer acquisition. Three minutes isn't much time, but if you've got a sharp pitch, it could be enough to open a door.

The venue is YMCA Norfolk, located at 2901 Granby St, Norfolk, VA 23504.

Registration is open now. You can scan the QR code on the flyer or head to www.pangainstitutions.com/event to sign up.

If you've been sitting on a business idea or you're already running something and looking to expand your reach, this seems like a low-pressure way to get in front of people who might actually help you move forward.
